Chalk’s New Single “Get Fucked” Is the Gritty, High-Octane Energy We’ve Been Waiting For

Belfast’s electronic-post-punk duo Chalk are officially back, and they’ve dialled the intensity all the way up. Fresh off the back of their standout debut album Crystalpunk—a record that felt like a proper wake-up call for the UK dance scene—Ross Cullen and Benedict Goddard have just dropped their latest single, “Get Fucked

Released July 3 via ALTER Music, the track feels like a punch to the gut in the best way possible. This time around, they’ve teamed up with heavy-hitting Irish electronic producer Kettama, and the result is a massive, club-ready anthem that bridges the gap between raw, guitar-driven angst and straight-up, sweat-drenched rave culture.

A Track with a Past

It’s funny how these things happen. The band mentioned that “Get Fucked” actually started life during the Crystalpunk sessions, but it never quite found its place on the final tracklist. It sat on a hard drive until they linked up with Kettama (Evan).

“We ended up being big fans of each other’s work,” the guys said. “Evan gave it a new lease of life from the demo to the finished track.” You can really hear that influence; while it still carries that signature Chalk bite, there’s a new, refined electronic snap to it that makes it feel even more dangerous on a sound system.

Why It’s Sticking

  • That “Crystalpunk” Edge: If you’ve been living in the Crystalpunk world for the last few months, this is the natural next step. It’s got all the distortion and attitude you expect, but it’s lean, mean, and hits harder.

  • The Production: The collaboration brings something fresh to the table. It’s got the rhythmic precision of a peak-time techno set, but it never loses that underlying, dark indie energy that makes Chalk so compelling.

  • Pure Unapologetic Noise: Let’s be honest—it’s refreshing to hear a track that just goes for it. It’s loud, it’s fast, and it’s clearly built for the kind of dark, crowded rooms where the bass is felt more than it’s heard.

Why Chalk Matters Right Now

Ross and Benedict come from a filmmaking background, and you can tell. Everything they do—from the sonic textures to the visual aesthetic—feels like it’s part of a bigger, more intense story. By blending the spirit of Ireland’s punk lineage with the visceral, pounding electronic scenes found in places like Belfast and Berlin, they’ve managed to create something that feels truly modern, rather than just a throwback.

After the massive success of their debut, it would have been easy to play it safe. Instead, with “Get F***ed,” they’ve doubled down on what makes them tick.
