Tiger La Flor HOLLYWOODLAND: New Pop Single & EP Review

Tiger La Flor’s “HOLLYWOODLAND” Is the Cinematic Escape We Didn’t Know We Needed

If you’re tired of the same old formulaic pop, step right into Tiger La Flor’s world. Her new single and title track, “HOLLYWOODLAND” is out now via Arista Records, serving as the crown jewel of her brand-new EP.

Instead of chasing modern radio trends, Tiger carved out a gorgeous, widescreen universe all her own. She calls it her “Laurel Canyon Western” sound—or, as she puts it with a grin, “like if David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino made country.”

Inside the Sound: Where Laurel Canyon Meets Spaghetti Westerns

Right from the first spin, “HOLLYWOODLAND” feels less like a standard release and more like stumbling across a lost soundtrack from 1974. It’s a masterclass in texture:

  • Lush, sweeping ABBA-esque and Bee Gees-style harmonies that give it a warm, vintage glow.

  • Vulnerable, storytelling vocals that channel a classic, old-school country warmth.

  • Twangy, sun-baked Chris Isaak-esque guitars that drip with southern California highway dust.

By recording with live orchestral elements and cutting the drums straight to tape, Tiger completely dodges that sterile, over-produced trap so many modern pop records fall into. It breathes.

Writing Songs About the Beautiful Mess of L.A. Romance

Lyrically, the track is pure gold. Framed as candid advice passed between two women across a dim bar counter, it tackles the absurdity, humor, and underlying heartbreak of dating in Los Angeles.

The whole project was actually sparked when Tiger moved back to L.A. from Paris and started wondering what she actually found romantic about the city (because let’s be honest, gridlock on the 405 isn’t cutting it). She found her answer by romanticizing a fictionalized golden era—racing down the highway with the top down, blasting classic records in a pair of oversized sunglasses.

“HOLLYWOODLAND is more than an EP to me, it is a nostalgic golden era of Los Angeles I never lived; part fiction, part truth,” Tiger shares. “Beneath all the glamour there is real heartbreak, yearning, and the peculiar melancholy of chasing dreams in a city that sells them.”

A Quick Spin Through the HOLLYWOODLAND EP

The five-track collection plays out like acts in a film:

  1. “KODACHROMATIC” – Opens the record in a rose-tinted haze (and became a viral sensation online behind videos of her parents’ love story).

  2. “HOLLYWOODLAND” – The sun-baked title track digging into the illusions of L.A. romance.

  3. “BAD COMPANY” – A wickedly self-aware anthem waving all her own red flags.

  4. “IN COLD BLOOD” – A moodier, gripping confrontation with a relationship going south.

  5. “FOREVERMORE” – A brilliant closing mash-up of Motown Supremes grooves and blazing mariachi horns.

Catch Her Live

Tiger’s undeniable momentum has already earned her love from Spotify and Amazon Music—including a massive digital takeover on a Times Square Billboard. If you want to see this cinematic vision translated to the stage, she’s celebrating with her debut L.A. headline show at Permanent Records on September 18th.

Dust off your favorite vintage shades and give this one a spin. You won’t regret it.
