Remi Wolf Returns with “Twiggy”: A Deep Dive Into Her Vulnerable New Era
If you’ve been missing the colorful, chaotic energy of Remi Wolf, the wait is officially over. After two years away from solo releases following her critically acclaimed album Big Ideas, pop’s favorite maximalist is back with a brand new single, “Twiggy”.
Escaping to Big Bear: How “Twiggy” Was Born
After a grueling, non-stop touring schedule that saw her opening for heavyweights like Lorde, Paramore, and Olivia Rodrigo—while commanding massive festival crowds at Coachella and Lollapalooza—Remi Wolf hit the pause button.
Instead of jumping straight back onto the treadmill, she retreated to a cabin in Big Bear with a tight-knit circle of collaborators. Away from the industry noise, she leaned into her rawest instincts. As Remi described the writing sessions:
“I felt this permission to be honest and be my raw self. Because of that, the writing process didn’t change, but the writing changed.”
Fans got their very first taste of this shift when she made a surprise appearance during Hayley Williams’ set at the Newport Folk Festival, giving the track an unforgettable live debut.
Lyrical Breakdown: Wit Meets Unfiltered Honesty
While the track keeps the signature Remi Wolf bounce, the lyricism pulls zero punches. It’s conversational, witty, and casually devastating.
Nowhere is that more apparent than in the standout verse:
“Where you saw independence / I saw being reckless / You said let’s get breakfast / 40 miles to Texas / backwards in your Lexus / Fighting with your exes / You just miss me / I just miss you / We just missed our exit.”
When asked about the inspiration behind the track, Remi kept it completely authentic:
“I wrote ‘Twiggy’ about people I’ve been with that lack both butts and emotional availability. And how I like that. Or maybe it’s just about the messiness of addiction? Idk, you decide :).”
That effortless pivot from deadpan humor to genuine vulnerability is exactly why she continues to stand out in the modern indie-pop landscape.
Vinyl Release & What’s Next
For collectors and die-hard fans, “Twiggy” is getting a physical release on a limited 7-inch vinyl, featuring an exclusive B-side titled “Tiny Little Twigs (Demo)”
She also co-directed the official music video with Ganna Bogdan, proving that this new era is entirely self-curated and fiercely independent.
