Five Finger Death Punch Mean Business With Heavy-Hitting New Single “Nails In The Coffin”
Hard rock heavyweights Five Finger Death Punch are back to remind everyone why they’ve stayed at the top of the modern metal food chain. Fresh off the release of their milestone tenth studio album, Legacy, the multi-platinum Las Vegas powerhouse has dropped their latest track, “Nails In The Coffin”.
If there’s one thing FFDP knows how to do, it’s deliver high-energy anthems that pack a serious punch. But this time around, the new track feels like something of a victory lap.
What “Nails In The Coffin” Is All About
Vocalist Ivan Moody has always kept his lyrics open to interpretation, letting fans find their own meaning in the music. But founding guitarist Zoltan Bathory gave some great insight into what the song represents for the band as they celebrate their 20th anniversary:
“Ivan never defines the meaning of his lyrics. He doesn’t want to rob the fans of their own interpretation… But to me, ‘Nails In The Coffin’ is about burying the things that tried to bury us. Every doubt, every prediction that we wouldn’t last, every catastrophe that was supposed to be the last nail in our coffin. 20 years later, we are still here and we’re the ones holding the hammer.”
Powered by massive hooks, driving rhythms, and pure grit, “Nails In The Coffin” captures that exact kind of stubborn resilience.
Inside the New Album: Legacy
“Nails In The Coffin” is a standout moment on Legacy, an album the band sees as a definitive statement of who they are today. Following massive cuts like “Eye Of The Storm”—which handed the band their 18th No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart—Legacy shows they aren’t slowing down anytime soon.
Bathory summed up the record best:
-
“This album is our loud and clear answer to the question of whether a band can stay true to the signature sound that has become the soundtrack to millions of fans’ daily lives and still write something new and exciting.”
-
“‘Legacy’ is an absolute monster, an unapologetic monument to how far we’ve come…”
The digital version of Legacy dropped on July 31, and physical collectors will want to mark their calendars: CDs, cassettes, and vinyl editions are heading to shelves on September 18.
