ArtistRack brings to you ‘The Minor Sea Meditation’ by Corey McCormick

Corey McCormick is a dynamic bassist, renowned for his versatile performances across genres. He has collaborated and toured with some of the industry’s most iconic figures, notably Chris Cornell, Neil Young, Willie Nelson and Lukas Nelson. His extensive touring experience has seen him grace stages worldwide, bringing energy and authenticity to each performance.

“The Minor Sea Meditation” was born from a deep connection between musician and instrument. Corey was inspired by the beauty and resonance of a vintage bass, complete with low C extension. This extraordinary instrument stirred his creativity, leading him to compose the piece and emphasizes the emotional depth Corey found in the bass. Renowned percussionist Shane Gaalaas added subtle and intricate percussion elements. His contribution brought rhythmic and textural depth to the piece, enhancing its meditative vibe.

The album art was created by Corey’s son Ellice, inspired by his incredible drawing of an octopus.
This personal touch adds an intimate, family-oriented dimension to the release, complementing the oceanic theme of the composition.

Corey’s ability to channel inspiration from the instrument and combine it with his personal life underscores the deeply organic and artistic nature of “The Minor Sea Meditation”. The piece is not just a composition, it’s an experience that merges sound, emotion and visual artistry.
