the-exfiles

Today we catch-up with Brooklyn, NY’s Daron Hogans known by his stage name as Xeno(Zeno) Devale for this exclusive interview and an insight into The ex-files, which is the first in a series of apps that is meant to tell a story about love and hate in an interactive way. The music the app has is at the fore front of the apps experience. Look at this as an interactive EP.

What is your name? My name is Daron Hogans. Stage name is Xeno Devale.

Where are you from? I am from Brooklyn, NY.

How long have you been making music? I have been making rap music for a few years, but gradually moved in the rock/alt genre recently.

How many songs /albums have you released to date? As far as rap music goes, I have released about 2 dozen. But this is my first release in rock.

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it? My latest release (The Ex-Files) is inspired by the attempt to understand ‘love’. Before starting this project, I studied songs created by Linkin Park, Evanescence, Kanye West’s 808s & heartbreak, and several others in the rock genre.

How have you ended up in the music industry? Music has just kind of inspired me out of nowhere. I just really feel people can relate to what I have to say.

What do you think of the Music industry in 2015? 2015 seems to be the years of lust more than love. I want to go back to when people we heavy with emotion.

Who do you think is the most influential artist? For this particular project. Linkin Park is my absolute biggest influence.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career? No one in this genre as of yet.

Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration? My dream collaboration would have to be Linkin Park and Eminem.

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project? This project is more than just music. I want to be an experience. The music is just half the story. I wanted the listeners to go beyond the music and into the eyes of those who caused me to create it as well as how it affects my future listeners.

I felt like releasing this music within an app was the best was to show the whole story so the listeners can be more interactive and get a deeper understanding about how i feel. The app will be updated every few months with new music as well as illustrations and videos.

What’s in the pipeline after this project? I plan on taking this project with more parts from different perspectives.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making dope, fresh music.
