Sarah Hale Folger releasing new Pink Floyd Cover, “The Great Gig In The Sky.”
Sarah Hale Folger is a singer with a huge dynamic range and a very emotional delivery. Recently, she recorded a stunning rendition of one of the most iconic tracks from the 70s, “The Great Gig In The Sky”, by the legendary British group Pink Floyd.
Sarah’s rendition captured the raw spirit of the original performance by singer Clare Torry, who joined the band for the session of their 1973 album, “Dark Side of the Moon.”
As the story goes, Torry actually performed several takes of the song, improving each time. Later, the best moments were pieced together, leading to a truly unforgettable vocal recordings. There might be no lyrics, but wow, what an emotional and expressive range! Sarah Hale Folger brought her own personality to this amazing cover, not only topping Torry’s dynamic range, but also allowing herself to truly showcase her talent and charisma.

Like millions before me, I was deeply affected by the Great Gig in the Sky. But it wasn’t until a few years ago while going through a great turmoil in my life that this song was reintroduced to me and it affected me so deeply that I decided to record my own version of it. I then took it a step further and created a music video of the song. This has brought great healing to my life and I wanted to thank David and all those in Pink Floyd for this beautiful song and all their amazing music.
I got it in my head that if I were able to record this song then create the video that I could put my past behind me and I have because I did it. I have a strong connection to owls especially the great horned owl because of an experience I had with one once as a child and I represented it in this song/video as it connected to the healing.
