S-Don

Omar Wilson, better known as S Don Perion is a Toronto native who lives and bleeds music. S Don is widely known as one of the most determined and hardest working rappers in his area. Owner of his independent record label, Black Dreams Entertainment,” S Don Perion has been busy touring and performing some of his classic hits and new bangers to highly receptive audiences. His popularity is bolstered by the fact that his records have been getting spins all over North America on both Canadian and American radio stations and TV shows.

What is your name?   My name is S Don Perion…that is my stage name and is what I’ve come to be known by.

Where are you from?    I was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and moved to London when I was 15, where I currently reside. I still do go back and forth to Toronto as it’s the music hub of Canada and I still have a lot of family there.

How long have you been making music?    I have been making music since I was a youngster, but about 10 years ago I decided to pursue it from the business aspect starting my own successful label, Black Dreams Entertainment. It’s only recent that I decided to get my sounds out and launch myself as an artist.

How many songs /albums have you released to date?    I’m yet to release an album but I am currently putting together my upcoming EP titled “UK” THE ULTIMATE KNOWLEDGE.  A collection of singles I have recently recorded and released.

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it?    My latest releases are “Dope Boy Swag” and “You Know Where We At.” Both are about life in the streets and the struggles of getting out and moving on up to a successful lifestyle.

How have you ended up in the music industry?   I have been in the music industry for ten years now, since starting up my label “Black Dreams Entertainment.” I have helped a number of talented artists reach success but the time had come for me to pursue my own solo career. I’m still the CEO of Black Dreams Entertainment and still working with our current signed artists.

What do you think of the music industry in 2014?   The music industry of 2014 is very interesting. A lot of great talent out there….but there is such fierce competition to succeed and win. I believe the harder you grind the hard you will shine.

Who do you think the most influential artist?   From my own perspective there are so many. I have to say collaboration projects such as Tupac and Biggie, Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep. Countless others opened many doors and changed the scene but Jay Z is one of my influences to this day as rapper entrepreneur.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?   Some talents I have collaborated with are Bugz Corleone, Darryl Riley, Buggatti, Kidd Strapz. More recently; Don Connect ft Kid Gucci and Goliath PAW…as well as an upcoming feature with Goliath PAW.

Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?   Dead or alive my dream collab….tough one there…probably Michael Jackson and possibly 50 Cent, but so much talent in this industry.

What was the first album you bought?   First album I bought was “It Was Written” from Nas.

What’s your favourite song at the moment?   My favourite song at the moment is Ty Dolla Signs “Right Now” and my own of course “I Wanna Ride.”

Who is the most influential artist now, and 10 years ago?    Ten years ago would be Jay Z, 50 Cent….Ludacris. Now would have to be Rick Ross and the artists on Y.M.C.M.B.

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?   The albums I’d leave in my draw would be Nas’s “It Is Written,” “The Reasonable Doubt” by Jay Z, and “Hell On Earth” by Mobb Deep

How do you think you differ from other artists?   I feel what makes my sound different from other artists is the fact that I am diverse in my beat selection and my lyric composition. I can give a hardcore street sound and still create feel good music. I am also an entrepreneur and I help inspire young upcoming talent.

What is your favourite saying?   My favourite saying is “The Harder You Grind…The Harder You Shine.”

What other hobbies or interests do you have?   Other hobbies and interests I have are movies and I really enjoy stand-up comedy. I love learning new things especially if its business related. Experiencing life through travel and through different stories experienced by others.

Do you have any tattoos or piercings?   I have piercings and tattoos.

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?   This new upcoming project is my EP, the “UK ULTIMATE KNOWLEDGE.” It’s a seven track mini album. I carefully selected each track to keep the EP very diverse in sounds.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making dope, fresh music.   Thank you for the interview and giving artists like myself a platform to be heard.
