Miss Pride – Only You Can

Check out the exciting new single, ‘Only You Can’ by Miss Pride

Presenting
Randi “Pride” Richardson: Music that sets moods and creates atmosphere.

The 80’s and the 90’s as an era is well-known for its wealth of fashion trends in regards to the influences Hip Hop and R&B created. From artists such as N.W.A., Queen Latifah, De La Soul, Salt-N-Pepa, Public Enemy, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, New Edition, Whitney Houston, Prince and Full Force. Various ideologies and innovations began spinning outwards, spreading geographically and, culturally. These two eras represented Sunday park jams and parties, and also propagated bootleg cassette tapes which we all could find at the flea markets. You know the one, The San Jose Flea Market in San Jose, CA. However, these eras were about the artists, the singles that were put out, drum machines, break beats and albums.

The 80’s and the 90’s were the musical eras that had an impact on my youth and adolescents that spoke to me in a profound way. One of the most influential artists that inspired me as a child was Michael Jackson the ‘King of Pop”. His mark that he created on the industry alone is enough to make him a legend. Not only viewed as a legend for changing the music game. Michael Jackson shed light on world issues such as climate change, his donations to organizations and the support for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.

As a teenager I modeled and got an opportunity to model in New York over the summers; I also participated in my high school talent shows, and later got an opportunity to be a part of a girl group which eventually did not pan out. However, with the opportunity of currently working on my own album as an independent artist I am most grateful to the most high. Through this journey I have met some amazing artists between the Bay Area and Dallas.

I believe that music sets moods and creates atmospheres. And as humans, we’re so behaviorally influenced by the way we feel. As I continue to work on releasing my two singles; “You Can” and “Beautiful Mess” with my album following; and continuing to work as a Public Relations volunteer for The Blind Lives Matter Foundation, and maintaining my business of professional resume and freelance writing. I hope to create a sound that will be amplified to the next generation, impacting them and impacting our society in return through my music.
