What is your name?  Mack Warbuckz

Where are you from?   Native of Detroit, currently resides in Atlanta, GA

How long have you been making music?   About five years

How many songs /albums have you released to date?   Currently released my independent mix tape: In Search of Huey P. Newton, Vol.1

Can you tell us about your upcoming release and the background and inspirations behind it?   Huey P. Newton was a leader that stood up for the people, for something bigger then himself. I started writing this project with that spirit in mind and as a way to get people to think about who they are and where they are in the larger context. I wanted to give the people something they could vibe with while still ensuring that they learned or took away something as well. It is bigger than music; the people have to learn themselves to better themselves.

How have you ended up in the music industry?   I started writing around fourteen and became serious about five years ago. I am working my way into the music industry because I have pushed my way through. I am doing things independently, how I see fit.

What do you think of the music industry in 2015?   I think it is treated like disposal art. The music is no longer timeless. People put out five mix tapes in one year or appear on every track that’s on the radio. There is no longer emphasis placed on lyrics anymore. No one is here to push the art form, they just want to make money. No one is teaching in Hip Hop anymore.

Who do you think the most influential artist?   The most influential artist to me is none other than the late, great Tupac Shakur. What he did was reach people on a level that far surpassed music. He was able to take all the emotions and his passion for seeing his people do better and make music that lasted.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?   I have worked with some talent straight out of Atlanta; Franco of 585 Productions produced the majority of Huey P. Also did work with a talented producer who goes by the name of Don Pharaoh. And I have worked with C-Visions, out of Atlanta as well.

Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?   Dead or alive, my dream collaboration would be with one of the greatest to do it; Scarface.

What was the first album you bought?   The first album I ever purchased on my own was ATLiens, by Outkast… Classic.

What’s your favorite song at the moment? King Kunta by Kendrick Lamar

Who is the most influential artist now, and 10 years ago? Ten years ago was 2005 and I would to go with Jay Z at that time. He set a lot of trends as far as flow, delivery, and just overall presentation. As far as today, I would say Kendrick Lamar. I think he has brought conceptual writing to the mainstream. He has been nonconformist as far as his musical approach.

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?   ATLiens by Outkast

How do you think you differ from other artists?   I want to piss people off and I don’t care about following any guidelines. I am not interested in the typical format or the usual approach to making music. I just want to make music.

What is your favorite saying?   “Only a fool lets someone tell them who their enemy is.”-Assata Shakur

What other hobbies or interests do you have?   I love to read. I am a big reader. I am a avid film watcher, also. I like all historical fiction.

Do you have any tattoos or piercings?  No.

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?   This is my love letter to Hip Hop. I wanted to talk about the harsh realities of life and I wanted to make it poetic. It is very much politically charged. It is edgy, it’s street, and it makes you think..

What’s in the pipeline after this project?   I am working on an EP entitled The Infinity EP, currently due out around Fall 2015. It will be a game changer.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making dope, fresh music.

Thank you for taking the time to listen and get to know me as an artist. Salute!
