Check out our exclusive interview with producer Josh Misho from: Before The Elementals

Where are you from?

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, USA.

How long have you been making music?

I started writing music in about the year 2002. After that I was writing music on and off for a while because I was busy with life.

How many songs /albums have you released to date?

I released my first album: Aphelion Void – Amorphous, on 10/15/15. Although, I have had a number of my tracks online(on myspace/soundcloud) under the name “Aphelion Void” for several years before the release of the album. The album, Amorphous, is an Electronica/Electro-Industrial album.

My recent Release is titled: Before The Elementals – Perception. Released on 7/31/17

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background/inspirations behind it?

Before The Elementals – Perception, could be catagorized as a New Age, World Beat, chill out album. I wrote all the music for the album, Perception. My brother James Misho plays acoustic guitar on track 12. I started production on the album over a few years ago. The first track written for it is the track titled “Essence”, that I wrote several years ago.

The inspiration is Tribal and world music and instruments and electronic music. I have long had an interest in the traditional musical instruments of various cultures and find them intriguing. I also like the vocals, including Tribal shamanic chants, Gregorian Chants and world vocals.

Explain the name “Before The Elementals”?

Before The Elementals, is the title that I thought of for this concept album when I was listening to a few tracks that I had already completed for it. I think the name has a mystical quality to it, that is why I named the project “Before The Elementals”. Elements  and Elementals are perceived in many cultures and in many different ways all over the world. I did not intend for the Elementals or Elements to be a representation of specific members of the “band” Before The Elementals, just the overall mood of the music.

How have you ended up in the music industry?

I decided to start writing music myself. I had an interest in it so I decided that writing music was something that I wanted to do. I was never encouraged to do so by my family members.

What do you think of the music industry in 2017?

a lot of the pop music songs on the radio sound similar. That is why I don’t listen to the radio. I only listen to the music I choose to listen to.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?

I have collaborated with a few guitarist that I know. My brother James, and guitarist/Bassist NATE is the other. I have also collaborated with production for rapper RJMT. That is all at this time.

How do you think you differ from other artists?

I try not to just stay within the confines of a specific genre of music.

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?
I would not sell my music collection. I would recommend my favorite music artists.

What other hobbies or interests do you have?

I enjoy watching movies. Mainly Sci-Fi and Horror movies. I like to play video games if I have time. I have always had an interest in computers and technology.

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?

I already started working on a new Aphelion void album. I plan for that album to have vocals and be different from Amorphous, less instrumental.

What’s in the pipeline after this project?

I would like to make another BEFORE THE ELEMENTALS album in the future. I want there to be more vocalists on the next album. so I can write more song tracks.

Did you Perform any vocals on the album “Preception”?

What are your tasks as a producer?

Programming drum machines and Synthesizers, recording, sequencing and mixing.

There is the Gregorian Chant “Agnus Dei” in the track titled “Mystical Light”, any significance in that?

It is just one of my favorite Gregorian Chants. that is the only reason why it’s in that song. I just like how it sounds and it’s lyrics. Also, Mystical light was one of the original demo’s for, Before The Elementals, that I put on a few years ago.

What is the significance of the albums or tracks time?

It has no significance, it is just the total time of the song/album.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making great, fresh music.

Thank you very Much.
