E.L. Davis proudly presenting his new release, ‘Brave Songs’
E.L. Davis is an American singer-songwriter currently based in Hong Kong. Before relocating to Asia, he was active in the San Francisco music scene, playing with various bands through the mid-90s and early 2000s. After a 15-year hiatus from making music, he quit his day job and rediscovered his passion for songwriting.
In March 2019, Davis travelled to Los Angeles to work with producer and long-time co-conspirator Todd Herfindal, to record a new batch of songs at Herfindal’s solar-powered Sun Studio.
Brave Songs was born.
The EP is a sonically rich collection of instantly relatable songs that touch on the universal themes of love, courage, letting go of the past and embracing an uncertain future. The emotive vocals and dynamic musical arrangements invite the listener in and let them find their own voice within the songs.
On Brave Songs, Davis joins forces with previous members of his band Mission Mile, reconciling his musical past with his future.
The ideas for these songs sprang from a transformational period for the artist. After leaving the corporate life, E.L. took a sabbatical in northern Thailand, where he reclaimed his sanity for 6 months. These songs came to life as he strummed an acoustic guitar in the rooftop stairwell of the 8-story apartment complex where he was living.
