CINCINNATI, OHIO- The year 2019 provided fantastic growth for Alex Angelo, as he spent the year working and growing as an artist, songwriter and producer while inside a development/production deal with the Grammy award winning team of Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and Antonio Dixon. (Chris Brown, Bieber, JOJO, Omarion). While last year was focused on building and development, 2020 is now focused on sharing the art that has been created with this team, and others. Alex has had the opportunity to work on his music with Patrick “J. Que” Smith (Usher, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Fantasia Barrino, Ciara, Avant, Chris Brown, Ariana Grande, The Gospellers, and Omarion.) His mentor continues to be collaborator, songwriter, producer and engineer, David “DQ” Quiñones. (Beyonce, Jason Derulo, Demi Lovato)
Born in Florida, and growing up in Ohio, primarily Cleveland and Cincinnati, Angelo recalls that his earliest musical motives were driven by his love for dance and djing. At the age of 7, Alex was dancing for the Cleveland Cavaliers. At the age of 10, he was Djing in the arena during games. Alex’s mother is a public school music teacher in Cincinnati. Alex decided early on that he wanted to be the artist ON the records, not just playing and dancing to the music. Through his teens, Alex toured with Austin Mahone, Jake Miller, Shawn Mendes, Fifth Harmony and self-released several songs that have totalled millions of listens on Youtube, Spotify, Apple Music, etc.
Alex believes that knowledge is the pathway to success, and is focused on the art, putting in the hours, and creating authentic connections with talented people that paved the way for him. This development plan is by design, and he is happy not to have had overnight viral success. Alex is far more interested in being a career artist, rather than an “act.”
Alex’s first release since his past year of development is titled WHERE I’M AT. For this release, Alex partnered with the uber talented producer/songwriters T.I. Jakke, and Jim Lavigne. T.I. Jakke, Producer, Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has worked with Max Martin, Shellback, RedOne and written and produced songs for Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, French Montana, Daddy Yankee, Alvaro Soler, Christina Aguilera, Akon, Jordan Smith, Justice Carradine, Flo rida and many more. T.I. Jakke has enjoyed worldwide success and his songs have streamed almost 1 BILLION on Spotify and 1.5 Billion+ on YouTube, while having 10+ Number 1 radio airplay hits all over the world. Originally from Sweden, Jakke has been residing in Los Angeles the past 6 years. Jim Lavigne is a songwriter from Evanston, IL- placements with G-Eazy, Kevin Gates, Bazzi, Flo Rida, AKON, Bhad Bhabie, NBA Youngboy and others.
WHERE I’M AT features a scooting rhythm from producer T.I. Jakke, catchy lyrics and melodies sung by Alex Angelo. The song details the struggle of a one-sided relationship, as Angelo is committed, excited, and present while the other side is not as concerned. Angelo pleads, “Why don’t you ever come see me, Where I’m At?” Angelo is doing all the work in the relationship, and for some reason remains wrapped around her every move, or is he?
Alex Angelo will be releasing music every three weeks after this initial release of WHERE I’M AT on February 14th, 2019. He is booking summer shows, radio events and continuing his weekly #Robetalk podcast. Alex is currently enrolled in the Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati.
